Bonnes Mares Grand Cru par Mark Haisma 2009

Textbook Grand Cru Burgundy. One is immediately confronted (in a nice way) by a veritable wall of red fruits. Strawberry predominating. Quite singular in its expression now but such great balance I can envisage this wine developing and evolving beautifully over the years. Slightly reserved and understated at present but such harmony and as said, balance, that I can see this one growing old gracefully and disgracefully.

Mark Haisma thinks this wine will coast for 15 years but be drinking at its prime in about 5 years and urges you to indulge to embrace that rather than risk losing it. Personally, given a case I’d be cracking a bottle a year to chart its undoubtedly fascinating progress.
