Back in early May I met Monsieur Potel and tried his young but already accessible Bourgogne Rouge 2014. Now I can’t blame the E.U. for the couple of months delay but I am glad to day that his wines have finally arrived on our doorstop, and in light of recent currency fluctuations, no price change! Great price then, still great price now.
Bourgogne Rouge 2014 Nicolas Potel at £ 16.00 per Bottle
A textbook Summer red with soft, fruit forward, simple, almost lush Pinot Noir fruit.
Barolo 2009 Prunotto at £ 31.50 per Bottle (£ 30.00 by the case)
Market range - £ 32.95 to £ 38.33
A pretty, delicate, almost creamy Barolo. Deceptively easy to drink. Much of Barolo can be tough and sinewy in its youth but this has an accessible and easy-drinking charm.
Mr M.D. has bid £ 200 for the 3 Bottles of Château Angludet (Margaux) and the proceeds will go directly to “Catching Lives”. I will accept that bid close of play today unless any of you wish to raise a bid.
